Save your summer smile from the effects of dental erosion. Dental erosion is a known disorder that leads to many different varieties of problems for your teeth, and can eventually cause tooth loss. Dental erosion is most commonly caused by harmful acids in your mouth that seek to eat away at your tooth enamel.

To better protect yourself against the dangers of dental erosion, exercise caution with all foods and drinks you consume. Be conscious of the acidity of certain foods, and try to avoid those foods that can increase the prevalence of harmful acids in your mouth, including sugary sweets and treats.

Try to avoid snacking throughout the day, as acidic foods do more damage if they are not part of larger meals. After mealtime, try cleaning your mouth with a non-abrasive cleaning product such as mouthwash or sugarless gum. Avoid using toothpaste, as it may be too abrasive for your teeth after meals due to a heightened sensitivity in your teeth.
